what-papers-do-i-need
What documents do I need for my pup?
You need proof that your pup is a purebred Dane.  That means proof that both parents are purebred. That means (in Canada-USA) that you would have CKC-AKC registration (and as an extra, also pedigree) of each parent.

If you are owning a pup/dog that will be bred / shown, you would then need that pup registered with the dog registration centre in your country (CKC in Canada & AKC in USA).  The purpose of AKC-CKC registration is to show-breed, that's why the parents were registered.

However, the pup can also be registered on co-ownership basis with CKC; but in reality, that does not provide you with any additional proof of the dog's quality, as it is only the pup's parents registrations records that matter as proof.  The pup's CKC paper is based solely on the parents' papers and - it would only take a signature from the breeder to get the pup CKC certified for show/breed, i.e. registered.  This is if you have made a deal with the breeder to get CKC pup paper  (when the obvious or logical reason for pup CKC individual registration reason, show/breed is negotiated).  If at age 6+ months you decide to show or breed you Dane, you may then negotiate with the breeder obtaining show-breed rights category and the CKC show-breed paper (CKC registration) may be then obtained if you & the breeder reached an agreement on breeding price.
To simplify it, you need the parents registration and purebred pedigrees as proof that your pup is purebred; and simply keep in mind that AKC-CKC paper means a licence to show-breed or associated terms; and means that both parents of your pup are purebred.. If you already have papers of both parents, and purchased your pup as a pet, go to the next item below.

You need a vet certificate that pup has been vaccinated and is examined and found healthy. This should be done at age 8-10 weeks and usually done by the breeder just before the pup leaves for its new home; but there has been cases when someone would have to pick up the pup sooner and the new owner would do the initial vet exam. In this case, the breeder must guarantee that the pup is and will  be found healthy by the vet.
You also need to see the health records/tests of the parents.

You need to register the pup with the city where you reside for
a dog license.  The dog/pup should have a vet and a city tag on his
collar. Even a 3rd tag with your emergency contact numbers.

You need a breeder guarantee & written sales contract.
If the pup/dog is only a pet, no show/breeding, most good breeders
would provide an additional pup/dog breeder's certificate of
purebred excellence in addition to the CKC-0AKC parents
documents.

You need to tattoo the dog for ID.

You need to neuter/spay the dog at age 6 months (unless the
pup's contract offers a CKC licence - full registration, meaning that
pup is sold to show-breed)

And of course you need to complete and maintain vet records of
the pup's vaccinations which are at 8, 12, 16 weeks and 6 & 12
months, then annually thereafter.
