The Dane's diet

I have presented through the library pages several opinions and recommendations by several established breeders along with my own; and there is a lot of similarity and agreement on most of the topics discussed.

I want here to re-emphasize my opinion and recommendation; and I believe that with my experience, record and Dane quality I earned the right to be listened to.

Puppies and for the first 8 months during which most of the growing happens and happens fast; you need to supply quality diet but very carefully.

You don't want to disturb the balance in your Dane's food such as the ratio between calcium, magnesium and phosphors; as well as providing Vitamin D.

The first week of the puppy's life, along with the bitch's milk, the pup will need a blended mix of specialty powder mix product you can get from your local vet and warm goat milk; syringe and bottle-feeding slowly.

After one week, a mix of the puppy powder supplement, goat milk, veggies, cottage cheese and cereal all blended to a soft paste in a blender.

At two weeks add to the mix boiled eggs and soaked quality giant breed puppy kibbles.

At 3-4 weeks, depending on the condition of the pup, add ground beef and cans of meat & veggies puppy food to the mix in the blender.

One recommendation; when it comes to which product to choose; I recommend

Eagle Pack Giant breed puppy formula

After another week you start adding more can puppy
food to the blend, puppy food cans that have balanced product with meat: chicken, beef - lamb
and veggies.
Choose both chunks and in-gravy cans to create desirable flavour to the blended mix in the blender.

At 4 weeks you'll likely be the only provider as the
bitch will likely be finished with nursing, and you'll be blending Dane mix about 6 to 9 times a day (again,
warm goat milk, puppy kibbles, puppy cans, ground
beef, yogurt, veggies and other available ground or finely chopped meat - all in the blender).

At 6 weeks. while you'' still continue with the goal milk-based mix, ground raw meat  (and small chunks after meals) & bigger quantity along with quality puppy food (Eagle Pack Giant breed puppy formula is recommended) will be routine feeding 5 times a day.

Raw meat is an essential part of the diet. It's the nature's diet in the wild (wolfs diet).

Please, please don't be silly and force your vegetarian fashion on the pups (I have seen a woman insists on vegetarian only dog food!!!!!  against the law of nature!
The main foundation of the diet after that is

Eagle Pack Giant breed puppy food (mix dog food cans with dry kibbles).
goal milk (and occasional yogurt)
raw meat

The pup will still need his balanced dry dog food and to make him eat it, mix it with a balanced can of meat & gravy dog food.
And for mature dogs, quality giant breed dry and can food, raw meat and milk.

Finally, I offer my Danes an open buffet policy. Quality dry dog food & water are available all day. Only once a day they get raw meat, milk and other treats.
